In May, 2010, CHI has joined
with the US manufacturer of a plant based cleaner and degreaser to restore
previously available information for infection control issues. The
information is applicable to home and institutional use (health and veterinary
facilities), and there are applications for 'Clean Room' use.
We appreciate the newly
gained support and cooperation of Mark Graff in our effort to include this work,
first developed in 1993 in response to reports of flesh eating bacteria.
Our thanks go to
JBNI for their part in assisting CHI in the
development of this protocol in 1993. CHI also wishes to thank Dr. Harry
Preuss of Georgetown Medical Center for his input, first received in 2006, on
essential oil research.
BioGreenClean:
100% Plant Derived, 100%
Hypoallergenic, NO Harsh Chemicals, NO Dyes or Colors, NO Artificial
Ingredients, NO Perfumes or Fragrances, NO Chemical Residue, NO Animal
Testing, NO Peroxide, NO Ammonia, NO Bleach, NO butyl-cellusolve
(2-butoxethanol).
When first using BGC you may
notice something quite different. Beside the fact that there are no
fragrances, what you really smell is the true aroma of "clean".
It is important to remember
that 'dwell' time is important when using all natural plant based cleaners.
The dirtier the area is the longer time you allow the solution to remain
before wiping and rinsing clean, more effective benefit is achieved.
Because plant based cleaners
continue to "clean" if allowed to remain on a surface, it is advised to
rinse with clear water once you have finished cleaning an area to halt the
cleaning process.
Essential
Oils:
Specific
pure, pharmaceutical grade, therapeutic Essential Oils have a place in the
field of infection control. They are indispensible when antibiotics do
not work because they have a long, validated history of being antibacterial,
antiviral, antifungal and antibiotic. Certain essential oils may be
used directly on the skin, but very few. Certain essential oils
improve their ability to fight organisms as they age, and several have been
tested in combination with plant based natural cleaners like BGC with no
lessening of the ability of the plant cleaner to function fully. CHI
offers only pharmaceutical grade, high quality, pure, therapeutic essential
oils.
JBNI: While all of the JBNI
formulas have been tested at Dana Farber, the two products that brought them
into this approach to infection control were 15.3 and 46. 15.3 is a
non-steroidal anti-inflammatory herbal formula based on thousands of years
of application through the practices of Oriental Medicine. 46 is an
immune boosting formula but as all JBNI products, they have multiple
applications and can be potentiated when used in combination. JBNI
offers its products through professional practitioners.
Based on my
experience working in and managing critical care units and burn centers, I
find that standard institutional cleaning practices used in health
facilities can contribute to the spread of infection and need to be
modernized.
Programs are
developed on an individual basis for facilities and individuals, based on
specific needs of the person or the facility.
