Copyright Concerns: CHI is now in its 24th year. We base our work in ethics and integrity and of course, the science behind natural healing. When we went on line in the early 1990s very few others were in the arena. As years passed more sites came on line and every one wanted to tell you that they were an expert in natural health.
I began studying natural health when I was 11 years old. I had however had six years prior to that when my surgeon father tutored me in medicine, took me to the med school classes he taught, and to watch surgeries.
When I completed my nursing education I attended hundreds of hours of CME programs with him. And of course I turned out to be a "different kind of doctor" than he dreamed I would be.
Having done so much in this field I am not always pleased what I see and read on line. One example is a recent article in a mass market advertising magazine on the "new expert advice" to detox "right". A fluff piece, yet this is the common standard now.
In 1991 I began writing a natural health column that was published in many print venues. This is called Health Matters©. Now numerous people claim this title.
In 1995 we began our Healthy Options© education programs and this too is used by others.
Then in the late 90s we began a weekly broadcast titled Natural Health News© in a joint venture with a friend who had a focus on veteran's affairs. When he decided to retire, Natural Health News went on line in 2004, and we are now in our 8th year.
About this time I began to notice a couple of frequent visitors to my web sites. I followed up from time to time and found it curious that these sites seemed to be using my work while failing to attach proper attribution. This behavior seemed to grow and then I learned that one of the site's front man had issued a scathing, false, defamatory email about me. Of course I have never had a conversation of any type with this fellow, so the attack is curious. Lately too I see a lot of cut and paste from my work on his site again, and a lot of superficial articles be other writers he posts. I guess I prefer to have people get more in-depth information.
Later I found a TV program that went so far as to use a well established brand known to be a part of ( and owned by) CHI for their medical program.
And then getting back to the web followers, the second site now seems to have taken up the use of the name of our long established program, Natural Health News, and use it for a web site name.
You will note that all pages on this web site are copyright, and this also applies to digital copyright law.
While I support Fair Use, I do not support use of my material which is copyright by others without proper attribution.
I am pleased to see that the government is cracking down on copyright abuse, and this is one time I support government action.
