Stomach Acid Suppression and Increased Risk of Pneumonia - 
The normal acidity of the stomach via hydrochloric acid production acts as a natural protective barrier against bacteria and viruses. Apparently, chronic use of acid suppressing medications increases risk for pneumonia. Normally the gastric pH is below 4, an environment that kills most pathogens. However, the dispensing of antacids can interfere with this natural barrier and lead to increased colonization of ingested pathogens.

      Potentially harmful acidity develops in the tissues of the body when the system's ability to eliminate the acids that are produced (metabolic waste, acid forming foods, and the system's various stress mechanisms) is reduced. The stomach is one of the primary venting mechanisms for this build up of hydrogen ions (acids are typified by an abundance of such ions) and when our stomach's acid producing mechanisms are pharmaceutically inhibited, the hydrogen ion concentrations become too abundant to be efficiently eliminated by other pathways of elimination. Consequently, the acids build up in the tissues and fluid compartments of the body, where they greatly interfere with the normal cellular functions. The overly acidic condition of the intercellular fluid compartment makes it an ideal breeding ground for harmful micro-organisms, creating an enormous burden on the immune system. This build-up can lead to fatigue, poor mental and emotional health and eventual chronic degenerative illness.

DRUGS THAT CAN KILL AS WELL AS CURE

Anti-inflammatory drugs (29.6% of adverse reactions)

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs include aspirin, diclofenac, ibuprofen
and rofecoxib. They are prescribed for heart disease to reduce clotting of the blood, and as painkillers, especially in arthritis. They can cause gastro-intestinal bleeding, peptic ulcers, bleeding in the brain, kidney
problems, wheezing or a rash.

Diuretics (27.3% of adverse reactions)

Diuretics such as furosemide, bendroflumethiazide, bumetanide and
spironolactone are prescribed for heart disease and other conditions
associated with fluid retention to increase urine production.They can cause
kidney problems, low blood pressure, electrolyte disturbances and gout.

Warfarin (10.5% of adverse reactions)

Prescribed for heart disease to thin the blood. It can cause gastro-intestinal bleeding, blood in the urine and bruising.

ACE inhibitors (7.7% of adverse reactions)

ACE inhibitors such as ramipril, enalapril and captopril are prescribed for heart disease. They can cause kidney problems, low blood pressure and electrolyte disturbances.

Anti-depressants (7.1% of adverse reactions)

Antidepressants include fluoxetine, paroxetine and amitriptyline. They are
prescribed for depression. They can also cause confusion, low blood pressure, constipation and gastro-intestinal bleeding.

Other drugs causing adverse reactions include beta blockers for high blood pressure, opiates to treat severe pain, and steroids to treat inflammation.

Most prescription drugs do not work on the people who take them, a top drug company boss has admitted.
Dr. Allen Roses, worldwide vice-president of genetics at GlaxoSmithKline, said that some drugs were effective on as few as one third of people who are prescribed them.
Dr. Roses, an American academic geneticist from Duke University, North Carolina, revealed this at a recent scientific meeting in London.
He said drugs for Alzheimer's work in fewer than 1 in 3 patients, and those for cancer are only effective in a quarter of patients.
"The vast majority of drugs - more than 90% - only work in 30-50% of the people" he said.
His comments are likely to attract public anger since Glaxo announced last week that it hopes to earn £12 billion a year from just 20 new drugs it is developing.
Days ago it emerged that the NHS medical drugs bill has soared by nearly 50% in 3 years.  Prescription drugs cost the taxpayer £7.2 billion a year.

A precise Letter to the Editor from the London Daily Mail:  "How did we get to the point at which our Government can no longer protect its electorate from a totally untried & potentially disastrous technology?  Compare the EU's decision that it cannot prevent GM production because "there is no proof that harm will ensue"  with it's willingness to adopt a Draconian policy in the guise of the "positive list" to prevent the sale of food supplements "until proven safe."

The gradual mercury and aluminum buildup in the brain causes cognitive dysfunction. ALZHEIMERS is now expected to QUADRUPLE.

MORE ON DRUGS THAT CAN KILL - Pfizer Links Bextra, Some Heart Problems,

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE - news) on Friday said two small clinical trials showed heart bypass surgery patients taking Bextra, an anti-inflammatory in the same class as the recently withdrawn drug Vioxx, had an increased risk of stroke and heart attack. 

Mercury in Tuna is a risk, but not in vaccines, ever ask "WHY?" and fluoridated water-medicine-and food only make it worse!

Mercury can cause serious and permanent nerve and kidney damage. Mercury poisoning (acrodynia) has these symptoms: rapid heartbeat, sweating, irritability or hostility, withdrawal or shyness, memory loss, peeling of hands and feet, leg pain, slight hand tremors, difficulty with fine motor control (such as handwriting), sleeplessness, and headaches. In April 2004 the FDA has banned ephedra, while  it fails to force the withdrawal of numerous pharmaceuticals that have caused many more deaths and serious side effects than epehdra. 

Now the ban is lifted (2005) and the FDA has not implemented the change.
